After storming the town, gunmen abducted three people and killed a chief in the Iwo community of Isin Local Government Area (LGA), Kwara State.

According to reports, the gunmen attacked a filling station in the Sabaja area of town around 9 p.m. on Friday and abducted the manager, a security guard, and a cleric of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).

The attack was said to have been marked by indiscriminate gunshots as residents ran for their lives. Chief Raphael Adewuyi, a high chief of Sabaja, was reportedly killed by a stray bullet in his room.

Tunde Fadipe, the Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) in Isin LGA, confirmed on Saturday that a town chief was killed by a stray bullet during the incident.

“Three people were abducted during the incident, including the manager of the Petrol station, the security guard, and a pastor of a church, while a chief was hit by a stray bullet in his house during the operation,” he said.

Fadipe stated that the council, in collaboration with the police and other security forces, had mobilised security to pursue the gunmen and free the three abducted people.

SP Okasanmi Ajayi, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the incident, saying three people were kidnapped at a petrol station in the Iwo community on Friday night.

“Three people were abducted at Iwo on Friday, while one man was hit by a stray bullet in his house,” Okasanmi said.

“We have dispatched our men and vigilante members to pursue the abductors and rescue the three people, but we have yet to achieve success.” “I’m confident that the three people will be rescued.”

The police spokesman also stated that he was unsure whether the kidnappers had made contact with the abductees’ families.

Three people were reportedly kidnapped in May, and one person, identified as Mr Adeyemi, a native of Pamo in the council, was shot dead on Ijara/Isanlu Isin Road in Isin LGA.

Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, the immediate younger brother of Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, was one of the kidnapped victims.
