The House of Representatives is scheduled to screen the recently appointed service chiefs on Monday.

The screening is expected to take place mostly behind closed doors, allowing for a thorough assessment of the candidates.

President Bola Tinubu appointed Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, and AVM Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.

The House session follows the Senate’s screening and confirmation of the service chiefs’ nominations on Thursday.

During a closed-door session, the service chiefs addressed defence-related matters and other pressing issues while responding to questions posed by Senate members.

Tinubu had submitted a letter to the Senate requesting their confirmation of the service chiefs.

Upon the Senate’s resumption of plenary on Thursday, the screening process commenced, with each nominee taking the podium to outline their strategies for addressing the country’s security challenges.
