Malam Umar Namadi, Governor of Jigawa State, said he reappointed some of ex-Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar’s commissioners based on their competency and commitment.
Namadi stated this in a Friday interview with BBC HAUSA in response to criticism about the commissioners’ reappointment.
The governor swore in 16 new commissioners, eight of whom had previously served in the previous administration, following their confirmation by the state House of Assembly.
“I know all of these reappointed commissioners; we all worked together when I was a commissioner and deputy governor; I know what they can and cannot do.”
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that; the only thing we need is someone who can maintain trust and do what’s right for the people of the state,” Namadi said.
