The police on Friday arraigned a 29-year-old plumber, Marvelous Oge, in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing three overhead tanks.

The defendant, who resides at Karu Village, Abuja, was charged for criminal trespass, theft and belonging to gang of thieves.

Oge, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.

The prosection counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the complainant, Mr David Emmanuel of National Intelligence Agency quarters, Karu, reported the matter at the Karu Police station on Feb. 20.

According to him, the complainant alleged that the defendant trespassed into his apartment and stole three overhead tanks.

He added that after stealing the tanks, the defendant went and sold them at Nyanya Pantaker, where all the tanks were recovered.

Adeyanju further told the court that investigation revealed that the defendant belongs to a gang of thieves, who specialise in committing theft.

He said the defendant had just been released from same court a week ago over similar offence.

The offence contravened sections 348, 288 and 306 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Aliyu Alhassan, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 and one surety in like sum.

Alhassan, however, adjourned the case until May 15 for hearing.
