A Kano-based legal practitioner, Mr Hashim Fagge, has urged the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command to take measures to forestall breakdown of law and order during the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr festival.
Fagge made the call in a letter to the CP dated April 2, 2024 a copy of which was made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kano.
The alleged public disorder was being plotted by a group under the guise of Malam Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara Students, a faceless group, according to Fagge.

Kabara, an Islamic cleric, is on a death row at Kurmawa Correctional Centre, Kano, having been found guilty of blaspheming Prophet Mohammed.
He said a message which has gone viral in the social media purportedly written by Kabara sought to instigate the people to disturb public peace and disrupt Sallah celebration in Kano.
“In my capacity as good citizens of Kano state, I deemed it expedient to crave the indulgence of your honourable office to as a matter of urgency cause an investigation into this serious allegation.
“This is with a view to ensuring hitch-free and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Kano State,” the lawyer said.
