The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission (PCACC) has launched an investigation into the Managing Director Abubakar of Rimi Television (ARTV), Alhaji Mustapha Adamu Indabawa, over alleged misappropriation and mismanagement of funds.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the investigation followed a petition by the joint union of the station, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Radio Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

In the petition, the unions accused Mr Indabawa of misappropriation of funds amounting to about N100m and abuse of office.

Recall that Mr Indabawa was among the new heads of parastatals appointed as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the station by the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, a few months ago.

It was gathered that the managing director was grilled by investigators on Friday over alleged misappropriation of over N60m and an alleged theft of N3m UNICEF airtime cash he claimed was stolen in his car.

The offence is contrary to Section 26 of the law establishing the anti-graft agency and punishable with a minimum of 3 years in jail.

In his reaction, Mr Indabawa told the newspaper that he could not comment on the issue as the matter was before the PCACC.

This development comes just a few months after the Kano state government also suspended the Managing Director of the Kano Radio Corporation (Radio Kano), Malam Hisham Habib a few months ago.

However, the reason for Mr Habib’s suspension was not disclosed.
