The newly installed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has returned to the Kano Emir’s Palace in the early morning hours of Saturday, Daily News 24 reports.

Our correspondent reports that Mr Sanusi was escorted to the Palace by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his deputy Comrade Abdussalam Gwarzo, Speaker of Kano Assembly Ismail Yusuf Falgore and other government officials and courtiers.

Daily News 24 reports that the heavy security has been deployed at the Palace and the governor had stayed for hours at Gidan Rumfa, apparently to provide protection for the emir.

The Emir of Kano, while interacting with Journalists expressed joy at the development thanking the government at state and national level for their support.

However, just as Sanusi was relocated to the Palace, the deposed 15th Fulani Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero also stormed Kano in the night.

Mr Bayero’s plane landed at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), where he was received by many supporters, who chanted his praise.

The former emir did not speak to the press, however.

The15th Fulani Emir was said to be poised to return to the Palace, raising fears of a potential violent clash between the two emirs’ supporters.

It was reliably gathered that Alhaji Bayero is set to return to Gidan Rumfa because of a controversial court order from a federal high court, which had restrained the Kano state government from reinstating Emir Sanusi.

But on Friday, while issuing an appointment letter to Mr Sanusi, Governor Yusuf had complained about the court order from a federal high court in the state.

The governor decried that Justice Abdullahi M. Liman, the judge of the federal high court, who purportedly signed the order, was in faraway United States, when he issued the document.

“We understand that the judge who signed the order is in America. This is one of the problems we have in the judiciary,” he said, adding that “I’ll raise the issue with the Nigeria Governors Forum”.

It is also believed that the governor would filed a complaint against Justice Liman at the National Judicial Commission (NJC).

Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Command, said it would brief the public on the developments in the state on Saturday.

There are indications that the police might impose a curfew to forestall a potential breakdown of law and order in the state.
