The officer in charge of the operation described the building as a one-storey structure, measuring 200 x 100ft, with multiple apartments, used as a dwelling house.
“The area affected by the fire was three apartments,” said PFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi. “The first apartment had one parlour, two rooms, one toilet, and two corridors on the upper floor, all of which were engulfed in flames.”
The fire then spread to the second side of the building, affecting one parlour, one bedroom, one kitchen, and one corridor. The third apartment sustained minor damage, with one room, parlour, and kitchen slightly affected.
Owing to the timely intervention of the fire service, the situation was brought under control, and the remaining seven apartments on the ground and upper floors of the two buildings were saved from destruction.
“With the intervention of Allah and the effort of our men, they successfully managed the situation and saved the remaining seven apartments from burning,” said PFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the bravery and quick response of the fire service personnel averted what could have been a devastating loss of property and potentially, human life.
