The Edo State Police Command has announced the arrest of the suspected murderer of Glory Adekolure, a recent University of Benin (UNIBEN) graduate.
Adekolure, a 22-year-old final-year Chemistry student, went to her school for final clearance on June 13, 2024. Tragically, her body was found under a tree in the Iyowa Community of Benin City, near her home.
Fifteen days after her death, the suspect was captured in Asaba, Delta State.

In an interview with Channels Television on Saturday, Edo State Commissioner of Police Funsho Adegboye shared details of the arrest. Adegboye stated, “I am happy to inform the good people of Edo State and the good people of Nigeria that the killer of Glory Adekolure has been apprehended. After killing Glory, he ran away, aware that we were trailing him.
“Due to the painstaking investigations of our anti-kidnapping and cybercrime unit, he was arrested and confessed not only to the killing of Glory Adekolure but to the killing of eight other similar ladies.”
The suspect confessed to the murder of Adekolure and at least eight other young women. However, he has not yet been paraded, as investigations are still ongoing.
Adegboye emphasized the dedication of the police force to tracking and apprehending the suspect, assuring the public that further investigations will continue to uncover more details about the other crimes the suspect confessed to.
The police commissioner praised the efforts of the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime unit for their thorough investigation that led to the suspect’s arrest, reinforcing the commitment of the Edo State Police Command to ensure justice and public safety.
2 abducted Kogi varsity students killed
Earlier, Daily News 24 reported that the Police command in Kogi on Sunday confirmed the killing of two of the abducted students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH),Osara.
The State Police Commissioner, Mr Bethrand Onuoha, confirmed the killing in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Sunday in Lokoja.
Onuoha described the killing by the abductors as “very unfortunate”.
The CP, who did not give further details, said that security operatives were on the trail of the abductors to bring them to book.
