The Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), established by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has announced the opening of applications for postgraduate foreign scholarships in Artificial Intelligence, Forensic and Robotics Sciences.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudaishir, on Sunday in Kano.
Mudashir quoted Dr Maikudi Lawan, Secretary of the Scholarship Committee, as saying the foundation chose the three disciplines to provide specialised skills to citizens.
The scholarship aims to promote academic excellence and support deserving individuals from the Kano North Senatorial District.

Mudaishir said applicants could choose from three programs: M.Tech. (Information Security & Cyber Forensic), M.Tech. (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), and M.Tech. (Robotics Sciences).
He said Foundation had restricted the scholarship to these fields as part of its contributions to the country’s technological advancement.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 18-month programme is expected to be concluded in 2026, with applications to be submitted on or before July 30, 2024.
NAN also reports that the initiative followed Barau’s pledge in December 2023 to offer postgraduate scholarships to indigent students from Kano North Senatorial District with First Class honors.
