NNPC retail Ltd probes โ€œLubricants-for-Petrolโ€ incident

Recall that Daily News 24 reported how the attention of NNPC Retail Limited was drawn to a video clip on social media concerning its fuel pump attendant coercing customers to purchase lubricants as a prerequisite for purchasing fuel.

NNPC Retail Limited said it had launched an investigation into the unfortunate incident and appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against the culprit(s).

The Managing Director, Mr Huub Stokman made this known on Sunday in a statement signed by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer.

โ€œThe attention of NNPC Retail Limited has been drawn to a recent video clip making the rounds on social media (X to be precise) concerning a fuel pump attendant in one of NNPC filling stations.

โ€œIn the said video, customers were coerced to purchase lubricants or engine oil as a prerequisite for purchasing or dispensing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol.

โ€œStill in the video, the attendant alleged that this was a directive from NNPC Retail Management.

โ€œNNPC Retail wishes to state unequivocally that the allegation is entirely false and does not represent the Companyโ€™s Customer Service Charter,โ€™โ€™ he said.
