Finance Minister Wale Edun shared this update with State House Correspondents following the Council of State meeting on Tuesday.

2. Government urges patience for regime change advocates: The Federal Government has advised those calling for regime change to wait until the 2027 elections. Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, addressed this on Tuesday, suggesting that recent protests aimed at removing President Bola Tinubu were misplaced.

3. President Tinubu to embark on official visit to Equatorial Guinea: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja for Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on Wednesday, August 14, for a three-day official visit. This visit is in response to an invitation from President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, as announced by Special Adviser Ajuri Ngelale.

4. Tragic road accident claims 12 lives on Lagos-Ibadan expressway: A road crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least 12 passengers. The accident, involving a white Mazda bus, occurred around 3:14pm near the Ogere area of the highway.

7. Four sentenced to life lmprisonment for kidnapping in Ekiti: An Ekiti State High Court has sentenced four men to life imprisonment for the kidnapping of a 75-year-old woman in Ikere Ekiti. The defendants were also given five-year prison terms for conspiracy, as ruled by the court on Tuesday.

8. Ekiti seminarian arrested for defiling minor: Chukwudi Okoye, a 34-year-old seminarian, has been apprehended by the Anambra State Government for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl in Amanuke community, Awka North Local Government Area. The arrest was made by the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare and security operatives.

9. New policy approved to address health worker migration: President Bola Tinubu has endorsed a new national policy aimed at mitigating the migration of health workers. Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, announced that the policy is designed to manage and reverse the trend of health worker migration.
