An ace Hausa singer, Aminu Ladan Abubakar, popularly known as Alan Waka, has claimed that a Hausa man has never served as governor of Kano state even though Kano is a predominantly Hausa state.
Daily News 24 reports that Mr Abubakar revealed this in an interview with Premier Radio during an event organized to celebrate Ranar Hausa in Kano on Tuesday.
Mr Abubakar added that a Hausa man has also never been elected as the President of Nigeria throughout the country’s political history.
According to Mr Abubakar, Hausa people are arguably the most peaceful people in Nigeria, who remain calm despite injustice and oppression by other ethnic groups.

“It is always Hausa people that are being killed in the Yoruba or Igboland in southern part of the country. But they has never retaliated against anybody.
“That is vengeance is never a tradition of the Hausa man. For instance, other cultures like Arabs or Fulani people may have a penchant for vengeance but not the Hausa people,” he said.
He added: “If you claim that you have been oppressed, who is the oppressor? Because a Hausa man has never been a president of Nigeria, he has never been a governor of Kano state even though Kano is a Hausa state.
“The only Hausa man that had attempted to lead Nigeria was Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule Dan Masanin Kano. But he was denied the ticket in favor of a Fulani man, Shehu Shagari and we accepted and followed him and still respect him.
“Buhari is also a Fulani man. But it is the Hausa people not his Fulani kinsmen that elected him. If you look at leaders like (Rabiu Musa) Kwankwaso and (Abdullahi Umar) Ganduje, they are all Fulani and we follow them, all notable emirs and Islamic scholars are Fulani”.
The singer expressed worry why Hausa people are being killed, prevented from farming and displaced from their communities by bandits and terrorists.
Ranar Hausa (Hausa Day) is a day which is marked on the 26th August of every year to celebrate the cultures and traditions of Hausa people in Nigeria and around the world.
