Three people, including a mother and her two children, were rescued after a one-story building collapsed in the Makwarari area of Kano Municipal Local Government.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident on Friday, August 30, 2024, stating that the agency received an emergency call at approximately 9:30 am from one of its staff members, Ibrahim Isah.

Isah reported that the building, measuring about 30 by 40 feet and used as a dwelling house, had completely collapsed.

The victims identified as 35-year-old Balaraba Abba and her two children, 12-year-old Abdulnasir Jilani and 9-year-old Abdullahi Jilani-were inside the building when it gave way. However, quick action by residents in the area ensured that all three were rescued alive before the arrival of the fire brigade.

The victims were immediately transported to Murtala Muhammad Hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
