The Founder and National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, has clarified that Alhaji Buba Galadima, an associate of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the partyโ€™s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, is no longer affiliated with the party.

In a statement released on Sunday in Lagos, Aniebonam stated, “Galadima and others have long been expelled from the NNPP at the expiration of terms of the MOU that brought us and the movement together and, therefore, can no longer speak for us in any capacity.”

The clarification follows claims made by Galadima during a recent interview with Channels Television, where he accused the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, of targeting the NNPP government in Kano State under Governor Abba Yusuf.

Aniebonam refuted this claim, emphasizing the need for public figures to be cautious in their statements, particularly when addressing sensitive national issues. โ€œWith the challenges facing the nation, all leaders in Nigeria must be mindful of their statements. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and if there is an uprising, we will all be affected; thus, the need to be cautious in our utterances,โ€ he said.

He also stressed that the NNPP supports valid criticism of government policies but is against individuals spreading misinformation. “The NNPP is not against valid criticisms of government policies but we are against individuals who tend to use platforms they do not belong to, to peddle lies,” Aniebonam added.

Aniebonam reiterated that Galadima, along with others, had been expelled from the party and could not represent or speak for NNPP. He further urged Nigerians to distinguish between the NNPP and the Kwankwassiya movement, which is led by Kwankwaso.

โ€œThere is a need to differentiate between the Kwankwassiya movement and the NNPP. The NNPP has long terminated its relationship with that movement,โ€ he said.

In closing, Aniebonam urged Nigerians to dismiss Galadima’s statements, adding that the NNPP is not under any form of attack in Kano State.
