The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man, Dahiru Musa, in Dorayi Quarters, Kano.

This was revealed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna on Wednesday.

According to Haruna, the arrests followed a report by the deceased’s brother, who had initially reported Musa missing and raised suspicions about one of his close associates, Aliyu Adamu.

“On September 29, 2024, at about 7:30 pm, a resident of Dorayi Quarters, Kano, lodged a complaint that his brother, Dahiru Musa, had gone missing.

He expressed strong suspicions regarding Aliyu Adamu, 22, of Gaida Yan-Kusa Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State, who was the last person in contact with the deceased,” the statement read.

Haruna explained that detectives acted promptly, leading to Adamu’s arrest on September 30, 2024. During interrogation, Adamu confessed to conspiring with his friend, Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20, to lure Musa to his residence under the pretense of discussing a land transaction.

“The suspects offered Musa poisoned food, and after he became unconscious, they stabbed him to death. His body was then wrapped in a sack and dumped in an uncompleted building near Adamu’s house,” the statement added.

The police further disclosed that the motive behind the murder was to seize Musa’s land, with Adamu already in possession of the property documents. The investigation also led to the arrest of Abdulsalam, who had conspired with another accomplice, Sadiq Sunusi, 19, to burn the victim’s body in an attempt to cover up the crime.

The charred remains were recovered and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, for an autopsy.

Haruna confirmed that the three suspects are in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section and will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, commended the public for their cooperation, urging residents to be cautious when engaging in business deals, particularly in unfamiliar areas.
