The llorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (lEDPU) has commiserated with the Emir of llorin, Alhaji brahim Sulu-Gambari, over the death of one of the llorin emirate kingmakers and Balogun Alanamu of llorin, Alhaji Abubakar Akanbi-Jos.
The National President of the union, Alhaji Otta Aliyu-Uthman, commiserated with the first-class traditional ruler in llorin on Friday in his condolence message issued by the National Publicity Secretary of IEDPU, Alhaji Abubakar lmam.
The statement described the death as a monumental loss to the people of the Emirate in particular and Kwara as a whole.
“The Union received the news of the death of the Balogun Alanamu with rude shock but with total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah,” the statement said.
The lEDPU national president described the deceased as a forthright public servant and a distinguished elder statesman who had offered his contribution towards the development of the Ilorin Emirate.
Aliyu-Uthman prayed to Allah to grant the Balogun an eternal rest and give his immediate family members the fortitude to bear the loss.
The late Abubakar Akanbi-Jos, who was the 11th Balogun Alanamu of llorin, died on Friday at the age of 92 after an illness.
The Chief lmam of llorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir led the Jana’izah (Islamic burial) prayer for the repose of the soul of the late high chief before he was buried at the Balogun Alanamu family compound in llorin.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, had paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased. (NAN)
