Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has urged the judiciary to refrain from actions that might undermine public interest in the state.
He issued this caution yesterday after casting his vote at Chiranci Ward, Gwale Local Government Area.

Governor Yusuf acknowledged the judiciary’s crucial role in upholding the rule of law but expressed concerns that certain decisions from the Federal High Court in Kano were allegedly being influenced to undermine the will of Kano residents.
“We have respect for the Nigerian judiciary because it is the last hope of the common man,” Yusuf stated. “But when the judiciary now submits itself to be used for partisanship, there will not be peace in the land. I want to urge the judiciary not to be used to subvert public interest in Kano.”
He further emphasized Kano’s commitment to peace while warning against any form of intimidation. “Let me emphasize again here that we would not be subjected to any intimidation from the judiciary and any quarter. We are peaceful and peace-loving people in Kano. But we would not be allowed to be pushed to the wall,” he added.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman, Chairman of the Association of State Independent Electoral Commissions in Nigeria and head of the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission, commended the peaceful conduct of the council elections in Kano.
In a related development, former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate and leader of the Kwankwassiya Movement, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, alleged that opposition parties had devised plans to disrupt the election.
After voting at Kwankwaso Ward, Madobi Local Government Area, Kwankwaso claimed that large sums of money had been distributed to party leaders with intentions of interfering with the exercise.
