During the match, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Nasarawa United with a contentious goal scored by Anas Yusuf in the 40th minute, tensions escalated among the players and officials.

Ugochukwu Gabriel, a Kano Pillars player, exhibited unruly behavior after the disputed goal, leading to his suspension for nine matches. The NPFL confirmed Gabrielโ€™s suspension begins from Matchday 10, and he will only be eligible to return at the beginning of the seasonโ€™s second half.

In addition to Gabriel’s actions, Kano Pillars faced charges for a statement issued by their Media & Communications Directorate, which included remarks by player Ahmed Musa criticizing match officials. This statement was deemed capable of bringing the league into disrepute.

The NPFL sanctioned Kano Pillars with a one million naira fine for improper conduct by their players and officials, alongside an additional one million naira for misconduct related to the inflammatory statement. The league authorities also cautioned Kano Pillars against making similar statements in the future, advising them to file complaints through official channels to avoid further penalties.

The club reserves the right to appeal these sanctions within 48 hours of receiving the notice.
