The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has pledged scholarships to the minors recently detained for participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest.
The Federal Government recently withdrew charges against these minors, allowing their release.
In a press briefing held Tuesday in Lagos, Abdulmumuni Kundak, Chairman of NAPPS’ newly appointed Board of Trustees, announced that the scholarships would cover both primary and secondary education for the minors.

“We are going to liaise with the authorities and get the records of the persons. And those who are within the ages of primary and secondary education will be given the scholarships wherever they are,” Kundak stated. “We have members across the country, and anywhere the minors live, our members will be ready to absorb them.”
Kundak highlighted the association’s focus on supporting vulnerable youth, saying, “It is better we train these youngsters to become better and enlightened citizens of the country for them to also make positive impact on society. Being involved in humanitarian services like this is not new to us. We donated to the victims of the recent flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State.”
He added that each NAPPS member school offers at least four annual scholarships to its students, underscoring their commitment to making education accessible.
New Board of Trustees approved
The briefing also covered updates on NAPPS’ new leadership and upcoming events. Kundak announced that the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has officially approved the new Board of Trustees, following a series of reviews regarding previous board appointments.
“This victory underscores the commitment to strengthening the association, enhancing educational standards, and fostering unity among stakeholders,” Kundak said. He explained that the CAC’s decision followed concerns raised about previous appointments, which had not adhered to NAPPS’ constitutional guidelines. “In response to our formal requests and in alignment with our governing rules, the CAC consequently derecognised some Board of Trustees.”
NAPPS’ new leaders include National President Chief Abayomi Otubela, Deputy National President Hajiya Amina Makintami, National Secretary Comrade Augustine Ajibade, National Treasurer Barr. Nonye Enemuo, among other key officers. In his remarks, Otubela assured that the association would continue working to raise educational standards across Nigeria.
The event saw attendance from officers and members of NAPPS from all six geopolitical zones.
