A total of 331 senior civil servants have been promoted in the federal civil service, following the completion of the 2024 promotion process.

This promotion came after the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) conducted a series of evaluations for senior civil servants on Grade Levels 14, 15, and 16.

According to reports, 697 candidates sat for the oral interview held on November 4, 2024, as part of the promotion process. The promotion followed the written examination that took place between August 12 and August 17, 2024.

The FCSC had issued a notice in May 2024 regarding the promotion evaluation for the year, inviting eligible senior civil servants to participate in the process. Candidates who passed the written exam were then invited for an oral interview, with an additional list of shortlisted candidates released on October 21, 2024.

In a final memo signed by the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, the list of successful candidates was unveiled.

โ€œSequel to the conduct of the Year 2024 Directorate Level Promotion/Evaluation Exercise, the Federal Civil Service Commission has approved the promotion of the following officers in the Federal Civil Service from Salary Grade Levels 14 to 15, 15 to 16 and 16 to 17 respectively, with effect from January 1, 2024,โ€ Prof. Olaopa said in the memo.

The final list showed that out of the 697 shortlisted candidates, only 331 were promoted to new director roles.
