The Muslim community is in mourning following the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Alhaji Muyideen Bello, who passed away at the age of 84.
Alhaji Bello, born in 1940 in Ibadan, was highly respected for his profound teachings and lifelong commitment to Islamic scholarship.
His death was announced on Friday morning by Alfa Aribidesi of At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah.

Popular Islamic singer and follower of the late scholar, Alhaji Basit Olarenwaju, also known as Aponle Anabi, confirmed the news with an emotional tribute on his official Facebook page, sharing an image of Bello accompanied by tearful emojis.
Sheikh Taofeeq Akeugbagold, another prominent cleric, expressed his grief in a heartfelt Facebook post, stating, “Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his Creator. SULTONUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland Sheikh Muyideen AJANI BELLO, may Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah fridaos for you.”
While the cause of Alhaji Bello’s death remains unclear, his passing marks the loss of a spiritual leader who influenced countless lives with his wisdom and guidance.
Reports indicate that funeral arrangements are yet to be officially announced. However, unverified information suggests he will be buried in accordance with Islamic rites on Friday evening.
