The governor’s visit follows his stop at Sharjah University in India, where he is engaging with institutions to resolve lingering issues affecting Kano-sponsored students.

A major focus of his trip is addressing the prolonged financial crisis that has prevented students, sponsored under the administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, from accessing their academic certificates.
In a statement on Monday, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, revealed that Yusuf held discussions with the management of Near East University regarding the overdue release of certificates for students who graduated between 2015 and 2019.
Describing the situation as a “significant setback,” Yusuf emphasized the impact on the affected students and the state. “This situation has been a significant setback for our children, hindering their dreams and aspirations, and it has also affected our state, which is in dire need of their expertise,” he said.
The governor assured the students of his administration’s commitment to settling the outstanding liabilities and facilitating the release of their certificates.
He reaffirmed his dedication to prioritizing education and student welfare as a foundation for Kano State’s sustainable development.
