The sound of the gunfire caused panic, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes, while the assailants conducted a house-to-house search, abducting women and children who were unable to escape.
Community leaders reported that, up until now, the kidnappers have not made any contact with the victims’ families to demand a ransom.
In a response to inquiries, Yazid Abubakar, the Zamfara State Police spokesperson, stated that he had not yet been briefed about the incident.
This attack marks another alarming case in the growing trend of kidnappings for ransom in Nigeria’s northern region, where insecurity continues to deeply affect local communities.
