The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) against alleged plans to manipulate votes in Kano State during the 2027 general election.
Kano State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, dismissed Kwankwaso’s recent remarks about significantly reducing APC’s votes in the next election as “laughable.”

Abbas was responding to Kwankwaso’s statement made during a meeting with stakeholders from Tsanyawa Local Government Area, where he received former councillors and senior special advisers who served under former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Kwankwaso had declared, “Now, it’s our turn to diminish APC’s influence. We will work tirelessly to ensure their votes are reduced to less than 15,000 in Kano come 2027.”
In reaction, Abbas described Kwankwaso as “a political refugee who has chosen to cling to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf like a leech in a futile attempt to regain relevance in the scheme of things in the country.”
He added, “Our teeming supporters in the APC have no cause to worry about Kwankwaso who has been booted out of NNPP due to his cluelessness and self-centeredness. We expect Kwankwaso to keep wondering why he has become a wanderer in the political terrain.”
The APC chairman further accused Kwankwaso of being inconsistent in his political affiliations, stating, “He ran away from APC because he couldn’t fit into our progressive ideals. His over-bloated ego and domineering posture forced him to abandon the PDP, and he has now become a political refugee because the NNPP refused to accommodate him.”
Abbas assured APC supporters that the party is prepared to reclaim Kano State, saying, “The party (APC) is already waiting to reclaim the state and save Kano people from the undue influence of Kwankwaso.”
He also warned that the APC would not allow a repeat of what he described as “vote manipulation and allocation during the 2023 general elections that created the impression that the NNPP is well-rooted in Kano State.”
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso has maintained that the NNPP achieved its success in 2023 despite being a relatively new political party with a late start to its campaign.
