The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the suspected mastermind behind the recent resurgence of Daba fighting between youths from Kofar Mata and Zango areas of Kano.
In a statement on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed that a police team deployed to the Kofar Mata/Zango junction, near Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, apprehended 21-year-old Kabiru Jamilu, a resident of Zango Quarters.

“The suspect was identified as the mastermind behind the resurgence of Daba fighting between Kofar Mata and Zango youths,” Haruna stated.
During preliminary investigations, Jamilu reportedly confessed to leading the clashes. Further investigations also led to the arrest of Umar Garba, a 32-year-old resident of Zango Quarters, who was found in possession of a sharp long knife.
The police spokesman added that both suspects have been transferred to the command’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and will face charges upon the completion of the investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, urged residents of Kofar Mata and Zango Quarters to cooperate with the police by providing useful information to help restore peace in the area.
