Early Life
Abba was born in Gaya Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State in January 5, 1963. He attended Sumaila Primary School between 1968 and 1975 and subsequently moved to Government Secondary school Lautai, Gumel (now Jigawa State), and bagged his First School Leaving Certificate in 1980.
Later on, in 1985, he obtained his national diploma in civil engineering from Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. He later attained a higher national diploma in civil engineering, and a certificate as well as a specialization in water resources/environmental engineering in 1989 from Kaduna Polytechnic.
AbbaGida-Gida as he is fondly called, did his National Youth Service Corps at Kaduna Environmental Protection Agency from 1989 to 1990. The governor-elect is also a holder of a postgraduate diploma in management, and obtained a master’s degree in business administration from the prestigious Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Political Career
From civil engineering, Abba delved into politics and served as Personal Assistant to Kano State Governor Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and later as Special Assistant (Administration) between 1999 to 2003.
He also served as the Commissioner of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport (Kano State) during the second term of Kwankwaso as governor of Kano State.
In 2019, he contested the gubernatorial election held where he was defeated by the current governor of Kano State Abdullahi Ganduje, in the election that was declared inconclusive, although he challenged the result of the election because he believed he won the keenly contested election, though, the court dismissed the case.
Personal Life & Networth
Abba is married to Hajiya Maryam Kwankwaso and they have four children. Abba’s net worth cannot be authentically ascertained at the moment but he is estimated to be more than $800,000.
