The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State has elected Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas as the consensus party Chairman for a second term with 51 other executives.

The party National Congress Committee Leader, Barrister Auwalu Abdullahi, leading other six members, announced after an exhaustive voting by 3,320 delegates that lasted for almost six hours, that despite a consensus arrangement, open door election was allowed.

The election was held in a crowded Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium with hundreds of delegates from the 44 local governments councils of the state in attendance.

A seven-man congress committee under Barrister Auwal Abdullahi who supervised the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje Congress, said he was on ground to allow a justifiable election which allows for open voting even though it is a consensus congress.

Shekarau-led Faction held Congress

Senator Ibrahim Shekarau’s Faction also held their  State Congress with Ahmadu Zago emerging as Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC in the state.

The congress was attended by member representing Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimingado in the House of Representatives, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Alhaji Shehu Dalhatu, Chairman Buhari Support Organisation and other stakeholders from the 44 local government area.

The parallel congress was held at Janguza Town after Security operatives denied the party faithful access to Sani Abacha Youth Centre.
