Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commenced engaging governorship candidates to recite the agenda they expect of them when they win the 2023 election.
The Kano chapter of the ACF, a northern elite forum, under the leadership of Dr Goni Farouk Umar plans to meet with no fewer than 16 political parties gubernatorial candidates in an excersize that started on Saturday.
Some of the agenda presented to the candidates include not tampering with funds meant for local governments, making sure their children attend public schools, avoiding medical tourism and improving the agric sector.
The forum also made case for the Almajiris and victims of drug abuse, where it demanded for a genuine plans from the candidates on how to resolve the problems.
“They should local governments to have their own money and not to interfere with their funds because that is what is hindering development of the state.
“We asked them to lead by example and make sure none of their children or those of their commissioners go abroad for education, they should ensure that they attend public schools in order to know the problems of the education sector and solve them.
“We do not expect any governor, his deputy or commissioners to go abroad for treatment. They should ensure that they improve the health sector so that everybody can get access to good healthcare” the ACF Kano chapter chairman stated.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate Bashir Ishaq Bashir and that of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was represented by his running mate Aminu Abdussalam have attended the meeting with the ACF.
