Popular Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has emerged victorious in the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary constituency election, securing the seat under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party.

Dumelo defeated incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The actor-turned-farmer, who has been contesting for the seat since 2018, previously lost by a narrow margin in the 2020 election. However, this time he triumphed with a decisive win, receiving 40,561 votes, while Alhassan garnered 27,377.

After his victory was declared, Dumelo expressed his gratitude and commitment to his constituents, saying, “This victory is not just for me, but for the people of Ayawaso West. I am committed to ensuring that we build a stronger, more prosperous community together.”

He further emphasized the importance of development, stating, “This is a valuable lesson for everyone. It’s not about money; it’s about the development of the people and addressing their needs.”

Dumelo, known for his roles in numerous films across Nollywood and Ghallywood, such as 4Play, 40 Looks Good on You, A Northern Affair, Adams Apples, A Private Storm, and Beautiful Ruins, has made a significant transition from acting to farming and politics.
