The Ado Bayero family has dismissed reports suggesting that the relocation of the wedding venue for their daughter, Maryam Nasir Ado Bayero, was influenced by controversies surrounding the tax reform bills.

Speculation had arisen linking the change in venue to political concerns, which the family has now debunked.

In a statement signed by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, Chairman of the brideโ€™s familiesโ€™ organizing committee, the family clarified that the decision to move the wedding from Kano to Abuja was a purely personal one.

โ€œThe choice to relocate the wedding venue was entirely the decision of our families and not influenced by the family of our daughterโ€™s would-be husband,โ€ Dan Agundi stated.

He emphasized that tradition grants the brideโ€™s family the authority to determine the location of the wedding.

According to Dan Agundi, the shift to Abuja, slated for Friday, December 13, 2024, was made weeks ago to accommodate dignitaries from across Nigeria and abroad who expressed interest in attending.

He called on those speculating about a connection between the wedding venue change and the tax reform bills to desist, emphasizing that the decision was based on convenience and logistics, not political or legislative matters.
