The bodies of two more drowned people have been recovered by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State.
CSC Adamu Shehu, NSCDC Jigawa State command spokesman, confirmed this to newsmen.
He stated that the two bodies were victims of separate incidents in the Buji and Kaugama local government areas.
He stated that they were recovered separately from two separate locations.
“The body of 30-year-old Zahraddeen Yusuf of Lafia village, Madabe Ward, Buji LGA was recovered on Monday at a local pond called Ruwan Kidibo after he tried to cross the water with his brothers on Saturday to reach his farm,” he said.
“Also in Kaugama LGA, NSCDC received a report of a drowning incident of a 15-year-old boy, Anas Hamza at Garin Badde, Marke Ward, Kaugama LGA.
“The victim was returning home from the farm when he decided to take bath from a nearby pond, and unfortunately, he was drowned and later, his shoes and clothes were sighted by the pond side.”
CSC Adamu said search and rescue mission was launched with assistance from the locals which eventually led to the discovery of the two dead bodies.
The two bodies were handed over to their respective families and had since been committed to mother earth in line with Islamic injunctions, he said.
Four women and a seven-month-old baby died in another canoe mishap in the Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
