Airtel Africa Plc and MTNN Plc, two major quoted telecoms companies, enjoyed investors’ positive sentiments during today’s trading session as both ranked amongst the highest stocks traded in value.

Airtel Africa traded 937,909 units of shares today valued at N722.16 million as the share price rose by 1.32% from N760.00 per share to N770.00 per share.

Similarly, MTNN Plc traded a total of 2,666,379 units of shares which were valued at N453.43 million, taking the share price up 1.16% from N172.00 per share to N174 per share.

Market performance

The Nigerian Exchange market closed on a positive note amidst sell-offs and buy-interests as the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 110 basis points.

The NGX ASI closed at 41,704.11 points, to reflect a growth of 1.10% from the previous trading day and a Year-to-Date (YTD) return of 3.56%. Meanwhile, the market capitalization increased by N237.13 billion.

At the close of market today, Thursday, 21st October 2021, the stock exchange market value currently stands at N21.76 trillion from N21.53 trillion in the previous trading day.

The market breadth closed positive as CUTIX led 23 Gainers, and 19 Losers topped by TIP at the end of today’s session.

The stock market has advanced 1,433.39 basepoints since the start of the year.
