The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has confirmed battling an undisclosed ailment after his wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu revealed he has been sick in a leaked audio.

Naija News previously reported that the Ondo First Lady threatened Bunmi Ademosun, Akeredolu’s Special Adviser on Multilateral and Intergovernmental Affairs, in the leaked WhatsApp audio.

According to Betty, Ademosun has been treating himself with a concoction made by fake pastors.

She stated that the family relies on Western medical care and that Ademosun should avoid her husband.

Betty went on to say that Ademosun’s recent nocturnal meetings to become the state’s deputy governor triggered the warning and outburst.

Akerodolu Makes a statement

Rotimi Akerodolu, through his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, said the governor, like everyone else, has a health problem but has received treatment and is recovering quickly.

Olatunde stated that the Governor was forced to respond to the concerns and assure the public that there is no cause for concern by the grace of God.

According to the spokesperson, his principal is not a superhuman, and his office’s immunity does not extend to physical wellness or otherwise.

He also debunked the notion that the governor is frail, noting that Akeredolu has been carrying out his official duties and is not bedridden, as widely assumed.

Olatunde listed the governor’s recent engagements, which included last week’s Executive Council and Security Council meetings, where decisions on the escalating clashes in Ikare-Akoko were made.

While thanking everyone who had expressed concern, Olatunde urged the public to ignore baseless allegations that could cause unnecessary anxiety.

He said: “The Governor, who participated in rigorous campaign activities on the 7th of January, couldn’t have been bedridden as widely speculated.

“Last Friday, Governor Akeredolu still inaugurated a new Refrigerated Van for use by Meat Dealers in the State. On the same day, he received the Lions Club International’s Melvin Jones Award.”
