Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, alleged to be a gospel musician, was arrested in Orozo, a border community between Abuja and Nasarawa State, after being found with a severed human head in a black nylon bag during a church service on Sunday.
The shocking discovery occurred during a thanksgiving service marking the end of a seven-day fast at the church.

Caleb Umaru, the church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, narrated the incident, explaining that Ajayi’s suspicious behavior was first noticed by a church member, Brother Victor, who spotted him near a nearby river.
“It was almost the end of the service, around 11am, during the final pledge and prayers. Brother Victor opened his eyes and saw someone passing by the river close to the church, carrying a bag. His movement seemed suspicious, which drew his attention,” Umaru explained.
Victor alerted another member, Brother Amos, and they approached Ajayi, who was seated at the back of the church. Ajayi, sensing suspicion, threw the bag into the river, claiming it was empty.
As the service continued, two motorcyclists arrived at the scene. One of them revealed that he had transported Ajayi from Loko-Tiye and had noticed blood dripping from the bag.
Confronted by the bikemen and church members, Ajayi initially denied any wrongdoing but attempted to flee when asked to retrieve the bag. “It took the grace of God for the four of them to be able to catch him. He ran very far into a bush,” Umaru recounted.
After a long chase, Ajayi was caught, and the bag was recovered. Upon opening it, church members discovered the decapitated head of a young woman, later identified as Ajayi’s girlfriend.
Ajayi, reportedly injured during the confrontation, confessed to killing his girlfriend after a dispute over her phone. He claimed she attacked him with a knife, injuring his hand, and he retaliated by stabbing her in the neck. “He said he collected the knife and stabbed her in the neck,” Umaru stated.
A viral video of the incident shows a policeman interrogating Ajayi, who alleged that “a woman” had instructed him to bring the severed head to her.
Umaru confirmed that police officers arrived at the scene and took Ajayi and the decapitated head into custody. “They carried his body because he was lying down and almost half dead and put him in the police van. They also took the head,” Umaru added.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
