Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo was born on November 6, 1960, in Kano State’s Gwarzo Local Government Area.
He is a Nigerian politician who serves as the deputy governor of Kano State.
Education
From 1966 to 1972, and again from 1972 to 1977, Aminu Gwarzo attended Gwarzo Primary School.
He graduated from Kano State Polytechnic with a National Diploma and a Higher National Diploma.
He also studied at Bayero University in Kano for a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration from 2007 to 2008.
Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo’s Professional Career
Gwarzo began his career as a classroom teacher in 1977 and rose to the position of headmaster in 1981.
After earning a National Diploma in Banking and Finance and a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy in 1988, he became a revenue officer.
He served for six years before entering politics and becoming the chairman of the Gwarzo local government in 1996.
Political Career
Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo was elected as Kano State‘s deputy governor-elect in March 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, with Abba Kabir Yusuf as governor-elect. Yusuf has kept Gwarzo as his running mate since the election in 2019.
Gwarzo served as the Commissioner for State Affairs under Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso from 2011 to 2015.
He was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area in 1996 and again from 1999 to 2003, while Rabiu Kwankwaso was governor of the state.
