The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero has paid a solidarity visit to Borno state amid the devastating floods in the state.

Daily News 24 reports that Emir Bayero visited Borno state on Thursday and was received by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

Governor Zulum expressed deep appreciation to Bayero, for his solidarity visit.

The Emir’s personal visit to Maiduguri, despite the challenges posed by the widespread flood, symbolized the deep-rooted relationship between the Kano and Borno emirates, a bond that Governor Zulum highlighted during his remarks.

Governor Zulum, while thanking the Emir, prayed for Almighty Allah to reward him for his kindness and to continue protecting the historic ties between their communities. He also invoked prayers for the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who played a crucial role in strengthening the bond between the two regions during his reign.

The governor emphasized that this connection, which spans decades, remains vital, especially during moments of crisis.

The flood in Borno, triggered by the overflow of the Ngadda River and exacerbated by heavy rainfall, displaced over 414,000 residents and resulted in significant infrastructure damage, with over 23,000 homes destroyed.

The state capital, Maiduguri, and surrounding areas were among the worst affected, with widespread loss of life and property.

Governor Zulumโ€™s administration swiftly opened several Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps to shelter the victims, and humanitarian aid continues to pour in from both government and private donors.
