Angry residents of Imawa town in Kura local government area of Kano state have blocked the busy Kano-Kaduna highway after a speeding driver crushed three persons to death.
Daily News 24 reports that the accident occurred on Friday afternoon as worshippers returned home from a mosque after Jumuat prayers.
It was learnt that the driver of the Corolla saloon car lost control and hit six people who were trying to cross the road, causing the death of three of the victims instantly, while the other were left with severe injuries.
Witnesses told our correspondent that the angry residents of the village immediately set the vehicle on fire and blocked the busy road, causing heavy traffic buildup.
Other villagers were said to have began destroying the windshields of vehicles passing through the area.
It was unclear however if the driver was able to escape the scene.

Daily News 24 gathered that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was returning to Kano city from an engagement was caught in the traffic.
The governor, who learned of the incident, immediately disembarked from his vehicle to participate in the funeral prayers of the deceased victims.
Governor Yusuf also promised to build and overhead pedestrian bridge in the town and pleaded with the residents to unblock the road.
The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, Abdullahi Laraban, did not respond to phone calls and text message seeking his confirmation of the incident.
Recall that this is the second major incident of speeding drivers knocking down residents in Imawa town an causing fatalities.
About two months ago, a truck lost control and crashed into worshippers who were crossing the highway after Friday congregational prayers, killing more than 20 persons.
