Teenage sensation Ansu Fati, who took the world by storm in the 2019/20 campaign and started the previous season brilliantly as well, has been out with an injury for nearly ten months.
Having suffered a broken meniscus in his left knee in November last year during a clash against Real Betis, the 18-year-old has had to undergo multiple surgeries, deal with setbacks in his rehabilitation, making the past year a huge ordeal.
However, Fati has returned to light training recently, and it is unlikely to be much longer before Barcelona fans see the teenage sensation back in action on the pitch. According to a report from MARCA, the Spanish international could be ready to return to the field as early as next month.
- Ansu Fati set for pre-season return
- Coutinho returns to Barcelona training
- Antoine Griezmann is for sale Barcelona president
Indeed, the report claims that Fati is in line to be available for selection for the Catalan giants right after the international break that will run from August 30 to September 8. Barcelona will be facing Sevilla in La Liga on the 11th of September, which is when the La Masia product is expected to return.
He was welcomed back to team training by applause and a tunnel tradition where the players pat the player in turns, guard of honour style.
Since breaking into the first-team back in the 2019/20 season, Fati has racked up 43 appearances for Barca, scoring 13 goals and setting up five more. Widely regarded as a generational talent, the four-time capped Spanish international will likely have a major role to play for the Blaugrana following the shock exit of Lionel Messi.
Barcelona lost Gerard Pique, and Eric Garcia to an injury and suspension respectively in the 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao this past weekend. However, Ronald Koeman will likely have Marc-Andre ter Stegen back from injury, along with Oscar Mingueza and Philippe Coutinho for the next game vs Getafe.
That, coupled with the news of Ansu Fati’s imminent return, certainly augurs well for the Catalan giants. [Barca Universal]
