National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje has appointed Muhammed Garba as his Chief of Staff.

Garba had previously served as Commissioner of Information and Home Affairs in Kano, under the administration of Abdullahi Ganduje in Kano state.

Abubakar Ibrahim, one of Mr. Ganduje’s media aides, disclosed the appointment in an official statement on Tuesday.

Garba, a former National Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), also held the role of Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

This appointment has garnered praise from journalists and civil organizations in Kano, lauding Mr. Ganduje’s decision to appoint an experienced technocrat like Mr. Garba, who has demonstrated commitment to serving the public.

Abdullahi Muhammad, the Chairman of the coalition of northern Nigeria civil society groups, commented,

“His (Mr. Garba) appointment is certainly the height of putting a round peg in a round hole. More like doing the right thing, at the most appropriate time.”
