Leader of the new faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which emerged in Saturday and renewed Abdullahi Ganduje’s suspension from the party is a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), according to a statement released by an APC Executive on Sunday.
Daily News 24 reports that a controversy is raging following the suspension of Mr Ganduje, the APC National Chairman by a faction of the party’s executive committee in Ganduje ward of Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano state.
Ganduje ward is the home-town of Mr Ganduje, the immediate past governor of the state.
However, the issue of the APC chairman’s suspension has become a legal one after two high courts issued conflicting court orders.
While a Kano state High Court affirmed the suspension, Mr Ganduje secured another order from a federal high court stopping the suspension.
But on Saturday, the new group from Ganduje ward, Dawakin Tofa local government area of the state claimed to be the legitimate ward excos, legally and validly elected on 31st July, 2021.
Addressing journalists in Kano, on Sunday, secretary of Ganduje ward, Ja’afar Adamu Ganduje who spoke on behalf of 11 other executive members explained the suspension of former Governor of Kano is necessitated on allegation of anti-party activities exhibited by Ganduje which led to division and failure of the party during the last election.

Adamu, who is Mr Ganduje’s nephew also accused Dr. Ganduje of igniting conflict of interest that led to two factional excos in the ward, there brought the party to disrepute in the mind of the public.
Nonetheless, on Sunday, one Ahmed Muhammad Ganduje and one Usaini Jibril, who described themselves as the genuine Chairman and Secretary of the APC in Ganduje ward respectively dismissed Mr Adamu’s claims.
In a statement, Messres Muhammad and Usaini accused the ruling NNPP government of organizing the new faction.
Mr Usaini, who signed the statement indicated that “as authentic executive members, no new election was conducted by the state or national body of the APC to herald a fresh leadership.”
“To the best of our knowledge, as executive members of Ganduje ward of the APC, there was no new election of new leadership of our party. We remain the same executive of the ward,” he added.
According to him, “the sponsored group couldn’t do their homework properly by using a fake or uncertified headed paper on which they drew a list of non existing party executive.
“To worsen their situation, leader of the group who announced the purported suspension is an NNPP member who contested but lost the councilorship election in Ganduje ward.”
Usaini’s group therefore called on the national body of the party and security agencies” to facilitate the arrest and persecution of the group for impersonation and attempting to cause disaffection in the party.”
