Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers, Chief Emeka Beke, has called on leaders of the party to support him and the newly inaugurated state officers.

Beke made the plea during the swearing-in of the elected officials of the party in Port Harcourt on Monday.

He charged the party leaders and executive members to ensure that they mobilised for the party in preparation to win the 2023 elections.

“We must get it right this time, we will not allow anything to distract or derail us, as we will be focused on 2023.

“Now we have a party structure to match our opponents and win them in all the units, there should be no excuse,” he said.

According to Beke, Rivers is ready for harvest, because of poor governance in the state, as the people are praying for 2023 to come fast.

“So, the chairmen of the party in the Local Government Areas should open the party’s membership register for new members to register.

“We have all been inaugurated, so we have a responsibility to mobilise new members to swell our ranks.

“Our primary focus is to defeat the ruling party in the state and drive them out from the Government House in Port Harcourt,” he added.

The APC State chairman said Gov. Nyesom Wike was unaware of good governance, and Rivers people were willing to do away with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He called on aggrieved members of the party to embrace the leadership of the APC and work for the party’s victory in 2023.

Beke warned impersonators to refrain from their illicit claim of being elected officials of the party.

“From today, we shall not tolerate any one that will claim to be State Chairman or any other position if such person is not duly elected,” he said.

The APC chairman thanked party members and supporters for enduring the long wait to welcome him at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Sam Etetewung was inaugurated as Secretary, while immediate past Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Chief Chris Finebone, retained his position.(NAN)
