The Nigerian Army has commenced investigation into the alleged murder and extortion of a woman in Yankara Village, Katsina state, by its personnel.
She was also said to have been arrested with about N420,000 and was later allegedly murdered by personnel of the Nigerian Army.
In response to this, the Nigerian Army in a statement by Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, the Director of Army Public Relations said the Nigeria Army does not tolerate acts of professional misconduct and will get to the root of the matter.

He added that the culprits will face the wrath of the law and, urged Nigerians to stay calm.
According to the statement, “the attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to media reports on the extortion and gruesome murder of a woman in Yankara village of Katsina State allegedly by troops.
“The Nigerian Army, therefore, wishes to inform the general public that it has commenced investigation into the matter and that anyone found culpable will face the wrath of the law.
“As a professional and responsible force, the NA does not tolerate any act of professional misconduct. The general public is hereby urged to remain calm as the investigation will be thorough enough to get to the root of the matter.
