Ahmed Ololade (born 13 January 1995) is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter better known as Asake. He has deals with YBNL Nation and Empire Distribution. His stage name honors his mother, whose given name is Asake.
Asake attended Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun state, where he majored in Theatre and Performing Arts. Despite the fact that he had been releasing music since 2018, his musical career took a step forward in 2020 when he released the single “Mr. Money.”
The song was then remixed by Zlatan and Peruzzi. He rose to prominence after releasing the 2020 single, Lady. On February 2022, he rose to prominence after being signed to YBNL Records by label boss Olamide(Badoo).
Asake released his debut extended play Ololade in February 2022, which included Asake’s breakthrough song “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide. “Sungba,” another hit single from the extended play, was remixed a month later with a verse from Nigerian artist Burna Boy. In July 2022, Asake will also sign a distribution agreement with Empire.
On September 8, 2022, Asake released his debut studio album Mr. Money With the Vibe, seven months after the release of his debut EP. Hit singles from the album included “Terminator,” “Peace Be Unto You,” and the “Sungba” remix with Burna Boy.
The album received widespread acclaim from fans in Nigeria and around the world, and it went on to break several records worldwide. He also organized a global tour in support of his debut album, selling out London’s O2 Academy Brixton. Roqqu, a cryptocurrency platform, announced Asake as their latest brand ambassador on October 21, 2022.
Asake frequently employs uptempo Afro and Amapiano-styled production. His songs contain elements of Fuji.
