Nigerians have been sending condolence messages to the singer, Davido and his fiancee, Chioma over the death of their son, Ifeanyi.
While reacting, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar condoled with the bereaved.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Davido and Chioma and the Adeleke family at this time. I pray for God to strengthen and comfort them,” he tweeted.
In his reaction, the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu expressed his heartfelt condolence to Davido and Chioma over the sad news.
“Oluremi and I send our heartfelt and deepest condolences to David, Chioma and the entire Adeleke family over the tragic loss of their son, Ifeanyi.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May the Lord grant them the fortitude and strength to deal with this painful tragedy,” he tweeted.
Similarly, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Dr. Peter Obi commiserated with the bereaved.
“I send my sincere condolences to Davido and Chioma, over the death of their son Ifeanyi. I cannot begin to imagine the pains they are going through at the moment.
“May God grant them healing, strength and comfort in this trying time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Obi said.
The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, said he cancelled his official engagements on Tuesday to mourn the death.
The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday also suspended all political activities for the week over the death of Ifeanyi.
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State sympathised with the ace singer, saying that it is a loss no responsible person would ever wish for.
The governor also sympathised with Davido’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, over the death of his grandson, saying as a grandfather, he feels Dr. Adeleke’s pain.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said eight domestic staff were earlier invited and questioned.
He said out of the eight persons invited and quizzed, the nanny was being held over the unfortunate incident.
Hundeyin said the nanny was helping a team of homicide detectives to unravel the circumstances behind the death of the boy.
It was reported that the three-year-old Ifeanyi drowned in a pool at his father’s house in Banana Island on Monday while his parents, Davido and fiancee, Chioma Rowlands, were at Ibadan, Oyo State, for a family gathering.
