Early Life and Education
Ayobami Mudashir Olabiyi, a native of Ibadan, began his education at CAC Primary School, Irifin, and proceeded to CAC Secondary Modern School, Alugbua. He later attended Akufo High School and the Oyo State College of Education (now Osun State College of Education) before earning a teaching certificate from the University of Ibadan. His dedication to education earned him the chieftaincy title of Otunba in Iware, Oyo State, where he started teaching in 1977.

Transition to Acting
Olabiyi spent 16 years as a teacher before retiring in 1993 to pursue acting full-time. His transition into the entertainment industry came with challenges, but his determination paid off. By 1994, he shot his first movie, “Ewolewo,” which was a success. His breakout role came in 1996 with the film “Olaniyanu,” which launched him into the limelight. He became a key figure in the industry and contributed to its administrative growth.

Leadership in TAMPAN
Olabiyi held various leadership roles, including the National Secretary of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), where he played an integral role in shaping the association and the industry as a whole. He also served as the Oyo State Governor of ANTP (later TAMPAN) from 2010 to 2014 and remained active in industry governance until 2020.

Filmography and Impact
Throughout his career, Olabiyi contributed to over 16 films and numerous television productions. He was known for his versatility and ability to portray diverse roles in Yoruba cinema. His dedication to the craft made him a mentor to many younger actors and a well-respected figure in Nigerian Nollywood. Beyond acting, he was involved in the training and welfare of fellow practitioners in the film industry, advocating for better technical and moral standards in Nollywood.

Final Years and Legacy
Olabiyi’s later years were dedicated to mentoring and supporting the next generation of actors, as well as maintaining cultural and ethical standards in the industry. He passed away following a period of illness at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan. His legacy as a trailblazer in Nigerian cinema, particularly within Yoruba Nollywood, remains strong, with his contributions remembered by both colleagues and fans.
