Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), is at the center of a major scandal following the discovery of hundreds of explicit videos allegedly depicting him in compromising situations.
These videos reportedly feature encounters with several high-profile individuals, including his brother’s wife, his cousin, and the sister of the President of Equatorial Guinea.

The scandal came to light during a fraud investigation, during which authorities uncovered over 300 videos on Ebang Engonga’s computer. The footage, discovered in his personal office, shows encounters with multiple women, some of whom are reportedly married. Although the recordings were said to have been made with consent, they have since been leaked online, sparking widespread media outrage.
In response to the scandal, Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema, issued a public statement on X (formerly Twitter), condemning inappropriate conduct within government offices. He emphasized that sexual relations are strictly prohibited in administrative workplaces and warned of serious repercussions for any violations.
“Given the abuse that has been shown on social media in Equatorial Guinea in recent days, and remembering that ministries are solely and exclusively for carrying out administrative work in support of the country’s development, sexual relations in offices are prohibited,” Nguema stated.
“Control mechanisms are already in place, and anyone who violates this rule again will be subject to disciplinary proceedings for indecent conduct and will be dismissed from their job.”
As the head of ANIF, Ebang Engonga is responsible for overseeing financial investigations and managing efforts to combat financial corruption in the country. Married and a father of six, he has held a significant position within the agency, which plays a crucial role in promoting financial transparency and regulatory compliance in Equatorial Guinea.
