One person has been reportedly killed while 16 women including 4 nursing mothers have been kidnapped in Hayin-Magaji Community, Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State.
Daily Trust reports that bandits in their numbers raided the community, a few kilometers away from Kontagora town, the Headquarters of Kontagora LGA and conducted house to house search between 2am and 3am on Monday.
A resident of the community who didn’t want his name mention said many people sustained various degrees of bullet injuries and were receiving treatment at the Kontagora General Hospital.
He said many people had fled their homes due to attack and called on the government to come to their aid against insecurity.
“There are 4 babies who were taken alongside their mothers. The babies were still breastfeeding and their mothers could not drop them. Our village is not far from Farin-Shinge, a few kilometers away from Kontagora. Many people are in the hospital now and only God knows if they would survive.” He said.
Neither the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun nor Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar could be reached as at the time of filing this report.
