Barawa community, under Batagarawa Local Government Area in Katsina State, was thrown into commotion on Sunday night after bandits in large numbers attacked the community, killing four persons and several others injured.
A source said the hoodlums stormed the community, which is barely 10 kilometres from Katsina metropolis, around 9 pm, shooting sporadically into the air.

According to the source, “nobody was kidnapped during the attack, but three men and an elderly woman were killed in the process. They also looted several shops and houses of their valuables and took away their goats and sheep as well.”
He further said that those killed in the attack have since been buried, but he would not be surprised if the number of recorded deaths increases since many people were severely wounded in the attack.
Consequently, the source said security in the area had been beefed up, and the state government has stepped in with relief items to assuage the pains afflicted on the masses.
