Additional images show the aftermath of the incident, highlighting the destruction of his black sports car. Though the post has since been deleted, it drew attention from fans and media alike.
According to a report from German tabloid Bild, Boniface is “doing well considering the circumstances and is only slightly injured,” as stated by a source close to the player.
In his social media post, Boniface expressed his gratitude, writing, “God is the greatest” and “God says my time hasn’t come.”
As of now, Bayer Leverkusen has not released any official comment regarding the incident.
The 23-year-old forward joined Leverkusen last season and played a pivotal role in the club’s remarkable unbeaten league and cup double, marking their first Bundesliga win while also receiving his debut call-up to the Nigerian national team. This season, Boniface has scored seven goals in 10 games across all competitions. He notably missed a penalty but went on to score the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Leverkusen is scheduled to face French club Brest in the Champions League on Wednesday.
